Sheila’s first paid job was maid and nanny to a little girl in a big house at the age of 15. She progressed from there to, amongst other jobs, chambermaid, busker, sweet-factory worker, designer and technician in the National Museum of Ireland, where she worked on the conservation and restoration of objects. She studied Archaeology in UCD and Adult Education in NUIM.

Since joining RTÉ in 1986, Sheila has worked in both TV and Radio producing, directing and commissioning programmes of all types, from drama and current affairs to arts and entertainment. Appointed Controller, RTÉjr and Head of Children’s Content in 2012, Sheila is responsible for RTÉ’s output for young people across all platforms.
Sheila recharges her batteries by walking in the hills, swimming in the sea, singing and playing music badly and generally hanging out with friends and family.
